Well it's been almost two weeks since I started taking estrogen. The first ~5 days were pretty rough as I had had a horrible headache for the majority of those days. On top of this I was also fighting a nasty cold and dealing with a husband who was (unknowingly) suffering from his first Kidney stone for a week until it was diagnosed (and he was prescribed some gooooood pain meds). So I can't say if all my "side effects" are from the estrogen alone.

Going from more a flat line hormonal level to adding 2mg estrogen twice a day will definitely come with some changes. Most obvious. . .

I'm trying my best not to take myself to serious (I mean, come on, if you can't laugh at yourself what can you do?!). There have been a handful of time when it's almost like I'm having an out of body experience where I'm watching myself overreact and go ballistic over something so little, yet I remain powerless and have no control over stopping the ridiculous behavior. I know for a fact that I'm being unreasonable but still can't put a stop to it! I also had one night of some pretty intense night sweats. Therefore, Phil being a the trooper that he is, has coined these moments "Flashing and swinging". He either sees me (or senses me) about to have a melt down, and cautiously asks, "Babe are you swinging?" It instantly lightens the mood and allows me to  laugh at myself and just brush it off.

Lastly, on top of the headaches and mood swings, I've been dealing with some of that dreaded weight gain. I find myself doing the same workouts as  always (Running, Insanity, Turbo kickboxing, lifting weights, walking, etc) and eating the same stuff, however, I can't stop the weight from creeping up. Everyone keeps telling me just to relax, and that "you'll gain a lot of weight when you get pregnant". Well guess what folks, I'm not pregnant now, therefore I shouldn't be gaining this much weight! ("Babe, are we swinging?"). I actually noticed some weight gain starting on the Honeymoon back in October and it just enhanced recently. I swear it's like my body got the message that I'm married now, therefore I'm supposed to relax a little...aka fatten up. I've gotten over obsessing over the's when my clothes get too tight to wear that upsets me. (I catch myself telling myself, "Honey just because it zips, doesn't mean it fits!"). When I get really upset and have those frequent occasional meltdowns, Phil remains the amazing husband that he is, and reassures me that I'm beautiful, not fat, and amazing just the way I am.

I've got about four more days until adding Progesterone to the mix of things for ten days (which my doctor tells me should make me feel better). After that...a period.

Stat tuned. . .

27 years young!

Hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing Easter weekend! This year, my 27th Birthday fell on Easter Sunday! Aside from being under the weather all weekend (Thanks Samson), this weekend was perfect! We had a lovely get together with family and friends at our house! Everyone enjoyed Publix subs, some Easter sweets and of course Publix cake!

After an Easter Egg hunt for the kiddos we enjoyed some fun in the pool! I got the chance to play with my birthday gift...a new Canon EOS Rebel T4i Such an awesome gift that my entire family and Phil's parents got as a group for me! I absolutely love it!! It was a gorgeous day and we enjoyed every minute of it.

Then on my Birthday, Easter Sunday, Phil and I enjoyed a low key morning followed by visiting both my parents and seeing my Grandma. Later that night, Phil took me out for a nice dinner at The Capital Grill.
A great ending to a perfect weekend!

In addition to all the great food, laughs, gifts and fun memories, I also received some news from my doctor regarding my blood work!! He informed me that my Antimuellerian Hormone (this again, is the test to show a women's ovarian reserve) needs to be above 0.5. . .mine is 8.8! Now I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure I have the ovarian reserve of an infant! (haha jk). What this actually tells us is that my AMH is high, most likely the result of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome [PCOS]. But I've been reassured that this is great news!  My ovarian reserve is great, young and healthy!! WOOWHOO!!

Anti Muellerian Hormone Levels
Ovarian Fertility Potentialng/mL
Optimal Fertility
4.0 - 6.8
Satisfactory Fertility
2.2 - 4.0
Low Fertility
0.3 - 2.2
Very Low / undetectable
0.0 - 0.3
High Level
> 6.8

My FSH/LH ratio also came back, 5:1. Normal is 1:1, which is what we wanted, but again, this is all painting a PCOS picture. Finally, a diagnosis! What a relief. Years and years I've never been given an answer on while I don't get periods. While this news is still a bit of blow, this is much easier to deal with [and treat] as opposed to Premature Ovarian Failure!

So even though we still have a struggle ahead of us, this news, in particular the AMH results, was the best birthday gift I could receive! He told me this news on Saturday, while I was in the company of the people I love most. These same people now knew that we're struggling and having these problems. And that's when it hit me... we have so many people who support us and are there for us while we go through this. For the first time, I didn't feel alone in the journey!

So now today, April 1st, we start the journey with hormone replacement meds! I'm a little nervous as to what's to come with being on these, but as always, I will do my best to remain optimistic, positive and have faith!
