This is my first attempt at joining the blogging world!
"My name is Amber, and I'm new to this"
|This would be me as I sit here typing!|
While I have no idea who would really be interested in reading this, I have come across quite a bit of random blogs that I personally enjoy reading, so here I go....
Currently I'm living in Denver with my fiance, Phil and our two fur babies, Juno and Zeus. Home for me, however, will always be Florida. Being ~1, 849 land miles (with tolls) can be tough, so hopefully this blog can help keep my family up to date with what we're up to here in the Rockies!
That being said, there really isn't too much to be updated on. I'm currently enjoying day #2 of 3 off from work. I work Sunday-Tuesday...pack Wednesday...then I'm actually flying back home to FLORIDA...for 12 days!! This trip was originally planned just for me to run the Disney Princess Half Marathon on February 26th. In between planning this trip and now though, Phil popped the question and asked me to marry him! We decided to get married in Florida and now this trip has turned into a "Pick a venue and a date trip" for the wedding! Since my plane tickets were booked, and I'd be gone for 12 days, Phil decided it would be most cost efficient and fun to DRIVE himself to Florida with the dogs (the cost of boarding two dogs is ridiculous)! He and the kids will be hitting the road Sunday and will make it to Florida a day or two before me! I feel like such a horrible wife-to-be not tagging along for the road trip, but Phil assured me there are no hard feelings! I'm definitely looking forward to the dogs being in Florida (Juno's home states and Zeus' first time) and getting some pool time in!
As for the half marathon, I was actually REALLY looking forward to it back in December! First off, it will be my Mom's first time running a half marathon (I couldn't be prouder!) and my sister-in-law is also running it for the second time in a row! Selfishly, I was look forward to this run and hoping to do really well as the abundant amounts of oxygen in at sea level well surpass the unnatural amount we are supposed to survive on up here at a mile+ above sea level! Unfortunately, I have been blindsided by a spontaneous ankle injury and have not been able to get a real run in since December 31, 2011! (That's last year, folks!) As of today, the ankle is a little sore (against my better judgement I ran 20 minutes/2.5 miles yesterday just to see how my body felt and did Turbo Kickboxing today) and I'm really not sure what's gonna happen 9 days from now. I do know it will involve 800mg Motrin, ace bandages, and a whole bunch of determination! Some people have said I shouldn't even run at all, but I figured one way or another, I'll be able to keep up the 16-minute-per-mile pace before the sweeper bus comes along!
